Moving through y11, this third assessment is the most tiring for me up to this point. I have to complete a portfolio consisting of five different texts but with one main theme throughout those pieces. However, this assessment sure has helped me a lot. It has improved my skills in writing and enhance my knowledge on technological issues.
Everybody says practice makes perfect, and I believe it. By doing five different piece of writing (which is a lot), I learned how each text uses different word choice, sentence structures, etc. depending on the purpose. For example, a persuasive text use lots of language features such as repetition, imagery, uses of adjectives to emphasize the strength or weakness of a statement which can makes people believe in what we want them to believe. I also learned how each paragraph needs to have a topic sentence and how an essay needs to have a clear thesis.
Besides developing my writing skills, this assessment also enhance my knowledge on technology, especially about HP printers and their company profile. I learned a lot about the features, strength and weakness of two specific HP products. Another thing that I learned through this assessment is how HP has grown from a small partnership into a public company and how it benefits its local society.
Overall, I enjoy doing this assessment. Even though it is a hard work, it is worth doing.
